I picked up one of my favorite kids from his preschool class for his session and this is the conversation that ensued on the way to my room:
Me: Hi kiddo!
Kiddo: Hi. What are you wearing?
Me (wearing a yellow top and a brown sweater duster and confused): What do you mean? A sweater?
Kiddo: Why are you wearing that?? I don't like it.
Gee...thanks.
He later told my colleague that he didn't like her outfit either and that she should wear a purple shirt and brown pants the next day.
I didn't realize our attire was so disturbing to him.
Use Your Words
I am a Speech-Language Pathologist working with kids in a public school. My husband always tells me that I should write a book about all the things that happen with my kiddos in therapy and the cute things they say so I decided to start a blog.

Rhyme Time
Yesterday, I evaluated a 4 year old boy for eligibility for preschool. One of the questions on the standardized assessment was rhyming. I asked him to give me a word that rhymes with "sock." You'd think I would get a response like block or clock or rock, right? Instead, what was his answer?? "Cock." Thank goodness his mom starting laughing too because I couldn't hold it in! One point for rhyming!!

Days of the Week
Today, one of my four-year-old boys was figuring out what days he has Speech.
He said, "(Do) I have Speech on Mondays?"
I replied, "Yes, today is Monday. You have Speech tomorrow too. What day is it tomorrow?"
To which he replied, "Taco Day."
Clearly, knowing that tomorrow is taco salad for lunch was WAY more important than knowing tomorrow is Tuesday! Too cute!

Pinocchio
On Tuesday, the same little guy as my previous post was being silly so on our way back to class, I told him he was silly and a goof. He said, "I'm not a goof, I'm a REAL boy and a munchkin!" I think I will have to call him Pinocchio from now on...

My Munchkins
I often call my youngest kids by pet names such as "munchkins, monkeys, goofy, etc." Well today, one of my 3 year olds was wearing a shirt with a monster on it and when I asked him if he was a monster he responded, "No, I'm not a monster, I'm a munchkin!" How cute is that?!
